Restoration Project

About forty years after it was originally built the car needed quite a bit of attention. In the mid 1970's the car's bodywork and interor was completly stripped. The interior wooden frames and wooden panels of the floor and boot that had deteriorated or had rotten were renewed using templates of the original woodwork. Rusted bodywork was repaired, rubbed down and given a rustproof coat inside and out before finally receiving a complete exterior respray. The underfloor pan was also treated and a new stainless steel exhaust box, rear and middle pipe were added. The rubber running board cover, boot lid lining and window seals were replaced. The sunshine roof was made operational as was the front opening window. Some parts were rechromed and some interior metal panels were given a wood-effect finish. The engine, clutch and Bendix brakes were overhauled.

Almost another forty years on the car surely needs some more attention although it is in better shape than it was after the first forty years and the "difficult to get" spares that were acquired over time will no doubt make this task a lot easier. However that will have to be a future project for any new owner.
